February 23, 2017

  • The Perry Police Department School Resource Officer responded to “a child who chronically refuses to go to school” and who was “refusing to get out of the car.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was “flagged down” by someone who said he “has been observing some unusual activity.”
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said “his crew was digging” and “accidentally hit a gas line.” An officer responded, and the utility company was notified.
  • A caller said the padlocks were cut off three storage units. An officer responded.
  • A caller said his bicycle was stolen. An officer responded.
  • Shane Taylor Smith, 40, 24236 180th St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of second-degree theft.
  • A local merchant said he received a “fraudulent check.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. Officers were previously engaged in responding to a 911 call.

February 24, 2017

  • A caller said she “got custody of her grandchildren and has been being harassed by the children’s biological father.” She requested an extra patrol of her residence. An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
