June 14, 2017

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department said a “breaker/transformer box blew up in front of him as he was on patrol.” Alliant Energy was notified.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he witnessed a hit-and-run accident. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone took some items from his vehicle during his lunch hour.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “adults were chasing a baby deer that seems very lost near the creek on the north side of Pattee Park.” An officer responded and made contact with the caller, who said the deer chasers “took off in a vehicle,” and the “deer is safe now.”
  • A caller said “persistent solicitors were just at her house,” including someone who “attempted to sell her books.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said a man told her “that he is afraid of a few guys that have been riding their bikes on a daily basis around his house.” The woman said the man “believes  they are involved with gangs or possibly drugs.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported they had a counterfeit $50 bill.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and turned in a cell phone he said he found. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she and her dog were in their yard. A person was walking a dog. Her dog went toward it quickly, and the two dogs got their leashes tangled. The other dog’s owner was trying to separate the leashes when her dog, a great Dane, raised its head, hitting the other owner in the head. The other person got a nosebleed.” The caller said “she just thought she should report it. Her dog did not bite the other person. She did not know the other dog owner, and they did not exchange information.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from the Johnstone Police Department called “regarding a runaway and believes he could be here in Perry.” An officer responded.
  • A caller asked “to speak with an officer regarding child restraint laws.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a baby deer just got hit by a car and was limping around.” An officer “responded and while attempting to see if the deer was injured, it ran away.”

June 15, 2017

  • A caller “requested an officer go over to his residence due to his son being disruptive and not letting him go to bed.” An officer responded and found the son “making loud noise and keeping his parents awake.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
