March 10, 2017

  • A caller said someone “knocked on his door asking for a ride to the four corners because he was homeless.” An officer responded but did not find the ride seeker.
  • Jason Dale Charlet, 44, 24236 180th St., Minburn, was arrested on a warrant for second-degree theft.
  • A caller requested a welfare check for someone who “hasn’t been seen in over a week and a half.” An officer responded and found the person “was okay.”
  • A caller said “there was a ditch fire near her house but nobody around to watch it.” The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • Haidar Kokola, 50, 1818 12th St., Des Moines, was issued a citation for violation of one-way traffic designation.

March 11, 2017

  • Officers of the Perry Police Department issued about 90 citations to vehicles parked in violation of the city snow ordinance.
  • A caller said someone “was making suicidal comments,” and the caller asked that officers of the Perry Police Department check the welfare of the person. Officers responded and made contact with the person, who said “he is fine.”
  • A caller said he 12-year-old brother “is out of control” because “they took his phone away.” An officer responded.
  • A caller asked “to talk to an officer regarding a custody issue.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she heard two shots fired.” Officers responded and found the area “all quiet.”
  • A caller said she “and her dad just got home and found a male running from their residence.” The caller said “her purse and her wallet were stolen from her vehicle.” An officer responded.

March 12, 2017

  • A 14-year-old girl from Perry was arrested on a charge of third-offense curfew violation.
  • A caller said her dog was missing.
  • A women entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a laptop and charged she said she found in a yellow bag. An officer responded and concluded the items were possibly related to a “report of a laptop in a yellow bag stolen from a vehicle.”
  • A caller said her tenants have friends whose children “vandalize the hallways.” An officer responded.

  • Officers of the Perry Police Department issued about 60 citations to vehicles parked in violation of the city snow ordinance.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
