Perry spring sport athletes earn academic honors

Numerous Perry athletes have been recognized from the golf and track teams for their success in the classroom.

Bluejay golfers Dane McCarty, Noah Wilkening, Gabe Ridnour and Connor Nielsen were named All-Academic Raccoon River Conference honorees, which requires an athlete be a letter winner, in grades 10-12, and with a GPA of at least 3.25. The Bluejays were also honored as a team with the IHSAA Distinguished Academic Achievement Award, given for a combined GPA of at least 3.25.

Earning All-Academic RRC recognition from the Bluejay track team were Devon Archer, Nic Fellom, Brandon Kenyon, Adan Medina, Kaleb Olejniczak, Tyler Soll, Justin Stammer and Zachary Thompson.

Jayette thinclads named All-Academic RRC were Joselyn Carrillo, Yris Guzman, Rachel Kinney, Emma Olejniczak, Adrian Thompson, Katelyn Thomason, Haley Vaughn, Star Love, Breanna Penenger, Isabel Saemisch, Grace Stewart and Sid Vancil. The team also received an IGHSAU Distinguished Academic Achievement Award.

Vaughn also received the high honor of being named to the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Academic All-State team. The honor is given based on a combination of GPA, ACT score and qualifying for at least one event at the state track meet.
