Perry to host ISU’s Explore Design! program for middle and high school students

Explore Design! a summer youth program of the Iowa State University College of Design, will be held in Perry July 8. Middle and high school youth should register by July 1.

The Iowa State University College of Design’s 2015 summer schedule includes a stop in Perry on Wednesday, July 8 for ExploreDesign!

The summer youth program immerses middle school and high school students in the world of art.

The one-day workshop is geared toward youth entering sixth grade through recent spring high school graduates. Participants will explore the artistic themes of pattern, identity, sculpture and product design using graffiti and typography. They will also have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of materials and techniques.

ExploreDesign! will be held Wednesday, July 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Perry Town/Craft Center, 1122 Willis Ave. The workshop costs $15, which includes snacks, lunch and materials. Participants may register online by July 1.
