Perry's Reece Dunlap follows Alex Morales (52) around left end against Ballard at Dewey Field last Friday. Perry visits 10th-ranked Boone tonight.

LAST MEETING – The Toreadors dominated every facet of the game, passing for 132 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 277 yards and two scores while adding a TD off an interception. Perry was held to only 53 yards in the air and just 39 yards – on 26 carries – on the ground as Boone made nine tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

ABOUT THE BLUEJAYS – Perry began the season with a 38-31 double overtime win at North Polk before falling to host Nevada, 24-7, and to Ballard, 41-17, at Dewey Field last week.

Quarterback Alexis Garrido is 32-of-67 for 453 yards and five scores through the air while being intercepted twice.

Reece Dunlap (16-244, 3 TDs) and Brandon Kenyon (12-198, 2 TDs) have done most of the damage, with Dunlap twice scoring on pass plays beyond 50 yards and Kenyon once.

The loss of senior Mark Campos will hurt both the running game and the defense, where he was rugged at middle linebacker.

With Campos out, Garrido (30-90, 1 TD) enters the game as the leading rusher. Dunlap was 53 yards on 16 carries and Donald Chavez 35 yards and a TD on 22 runs.

Conner Kenyon (14) and Mana Martinez (12.5) are the only defenders in double-digit tackles for a unit that has fallen on five fumbles and intercepted six passes.

Senior kicker German Alvarenga is 8-of-8 on PAT kicks and has hit both field goals he has attempted, from 28 and 35 yards, respectively.

ABOUT THE TOREADORS – Boone slipped past visiting Creston, 28-27, in their season opener, when scored a 35-31 win at Bondurant-Farrar before easily dispatching host Iowa Falls-Alden, 42-0, last week.

Quarterback Mason Hulse is 40-66-1 for 547 yards and eight touchdowns. John Imerman (7-183, 3 TDs), Tyler Casotti (12-155, 2 TDs) and Jon Herrick (10-106, 3 TDs) have been his favorite options.

Hulse is a dual-threat and will happily pull the ball down and take off. His 242 yards and three TDs on 54 carries leads the Boone rushing game. Norbert Riyazimana (36-156, 2 TDs) and Jake Lewis (19-73, 2 TDs) have also been busy, with the trio accounting for all but four rushes and 12 yards from the team totals.

Spencer Turner’s 17.5 tackles is a team-best, with Jordan Angle having made 17 stops. Boone has recovered three fumbles and intercepted two passes.

Kicker Jackson Smith has a big leg, but so far has been asked only to attend to PAT boots, on which he is 15-of-15.

OUTLOOK – Boone has always had a physical advantage over Perry in the past and will have again Friday. It will be critical for the Bluejays to hit some of the big plays they have shown the ability to produce. If the Toreador ground game has success it will make a strong passing attack more effective, so the Jays will need to maintain possession of the ball and try to shorten the game.
