UPDATE: Power pole sheared at 10th and Willis in two-car mishap

A two-vehicle mishap brought the Perry Police Department, Perry First Responders, Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff and Dallas County EMS to Willis Avenue at 10th Street Saturday shortly after 1 p.m.

A 1990 Nissan, registered to Eric Handon of 2725 Summer Meadows Court in Perry, struck and sheared off a power pole on the south side of Willis Avenue, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and utility pole.

The Perry Police Department received numerous calls on the incident, including one from Shannon Cummins of Minburn, who witnessed the mishap, which left a power line lying across his 2009 Chevy Silverado pickup truck.

A 2007 Toyota, registered to Michelle Onnen of 1620 Fourth St. in Perry, was also involved in the incident. The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation. No citations were issued, and no injuries were reported.

Alliant Energy was summoned to repair the utility line.
