Ron Stewart, 59, of Rippey passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 at 10 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 2-7 p.m., with family present from 4-7 p.m. and a Vigil service held at 6:30 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry.

Burial will be at the Rippey Cemetery in Rippey. Memorials will go to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Ronald “Ron” David Stewart was born Dec. 22, 1957, in Greenfield, Iowa, and was adopted into the family of Dale Francis and Doris (McComb) Stewart.

He attended the East Greene High School, where he participated in baseball and basketball.

Ron was united in marriage to Joelee Ann Martin at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry Nov. 28, 1981.

His entire life was in the Rippey area, where he farmed.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and playing fast- and slow-pitch softball.

Ron loved spending time with his family, and in recent years Ron enjoyed traveling, especially “cousins” trips.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Stewart; brother, James Stewart; grandparents, Andy and Mae McComb and Clarence and Lagora Stewart; nephew, Joshua Norris; father-in-law, John Koob; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ron is survived by his wife, Joelee Stewart of Rippey; mother, Doris Stewart of Boone; children, Andy (Erin) Stewart of Rippey and Angela (Jason) Bru of Bouton; grandchildren, Aubree Stewart and Archer Bru; sister, Janet (Dan) Norris of Stanhope; numerous cousins; and a nephew, Jeremy Norris.
