Ronald Owens, 68, of Perry lost his battle to cancer Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 29 at 3 p.m. at the Crossroads Church in Perry. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28 from 6-8 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will be in the People’s Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials will be given to the family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Ronald Ernest Owens was born Oct. 2, 1948, at Leon, Iowa, to Ernest and Mary Louise (Purdue) Owens.

Ron graduated from Dallas Center High School.

He worked for Osmundson Manufacturing for many years and also worked for Wiese Corporation.

Later Ron retired from the city of Perry, where he often cared for the cemetery. He rather loved this job.

Ron loved camping, playing softball, fishing and being with his family. He also enjoyed NASCAR and football.

Ron was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Dianna Owens.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Owens of Perry, Robin (Shannon) Schumacher of Salisbury, N.C., and Jamie (Randy) Galivan of Bagley; grandchildren, Kendra, Kylee and Kaden Smith of Des Moines, Elizabeth (Jackson) Wildes of Japan, Taya and Lucas Schumacher of Salisbury, N.C., and Dylan, Patience, Aydan and Samantha Galivan of Bagley; great-grandson, Joseph Wildes of Japan; sister, Reva Owens of Perry; and a brother, Rick Owens of Jamaica, Iowa.
