Rosalie Jeanette Bennett, daughter of Arvid and Luana Pearl Rose Blackstad, was born Dec. 29, 1932, and died April 15, 2015, at the Perry Lutheran Home.

Everyone knew her as Jeanie.

Jeanie graduated from Perry High School in 1951. Jeanie was united in marriage with Omer Bennett on Sept. 19, 1952.

Jeanie lived in Ankeny for 31 years and Diamondhead Lake for 10 years before moving back to Perry. She worked at Dental Tech and Bankers Life.

Jeanie enjoyed playing cribbage, pitch, poker, slots and loved nature. She spent much time bird watching and gardening. Jeanie also enjoyed cooking for family get-togethers and was a Cub Scout den mother. Jeanie had a fun-loving personality and was always smiling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Ray Smithson; her infant son, Andrew Bennett; and her brother, Pete Wright.

Jeanie is survived by her husband, Omer Bennett; daughter, Tish Dunlap of Pueblo, Colo.; sons, Scott Bennett of Des Moines and David (Teresa) Bennett of Ankeny; sister, Pat Hamman of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Jeanie’s family wishes to express their gratitude for the kindness shown to Jeanie by the Saint Jude Hospice and the staff at the Perry Lutheran Home. The family asks that memorials in Jeanie’s honor be sent to the Animal Rescue League.
