Elizabeth “Libby” Downey was on the faculty of Washington Township School during the World War II years 1945-1946.

Sunny and mild weather greeted the crowd at the Friends of Washington Township spring fundraising breakfast Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Breakfast fare included pancakes and eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage and juice and coffee.

Members of the class of 1958, the last to graduate from the Washington Township Consolidated School, are now in their mid-70s, and their numbers are strong but diminishing.

“We love our old friends,” said the event organizer, “but we’re also happy to see new faces.”

Proceeds from the breakfast help support ongoing restoration efforts at the school.

Next on the school’s activity agenda will be the fifth annual tractor ride slated for June 24.
