Sharon Lee Janssen, 79, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at the Madrid Home from a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25 at Iles-Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid, where the family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Sharon was born May 28, 1937, in Des Moines to Earl and Bernice (Wilson) Gentry.

She married Robert Janssen,  and they moved to the farm in Woodward in 1973, where they raised their three sons.

Sharon worked for Dr. Royer in Woodward for many years, Bob Brown Chevrolet and retired from Pat Clemons Chevrolet in 2012.

Sharon enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards, NASCAR and her monthly lunch bunch with the girls. Her greatest joy was spending time with her sons and grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her three sons, Tracy (LaRoyce) Janssen, Tim (Shari) Janssen and Troy (Melaine) Janssen, all of Woodward; five grandchildren, Manda (Jacob) Haws, Cody (Stephenie) Janssen, Casey Janssen, Greta Janssen and Andy Tyler; seven great-grandchildren, Dylon, Trey, Bailey, Makayla, Christopher, Brinlee and Chase; and her four siblings, Pat Beckman of Des Moines, Jacque (Richie) Chester of Chariton, Terry Gentry and Jay (Julie) Hansen of Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her grandson, Christopher Murphy.
