Dwayne Hochhalter treated the local coffee group, the Society of Retired Experts (SORE), to coffee and cinnamon rolls Friday morning at the Perry Perk coffeehouse on the occasion of his leaving the Perry area.

Dwayne and Mary Hochhalter are moving to the Kansas City, Mo., area April 20 after 50 years’ residence in Perry. The Hochhalters have a daughter near Kansas City and another daughter in Texas.

Mary was teacher for many years in the Perry Elementary School. Dwayne served on the Perry School Board and was the school system’s treasurer for many years. He sat on the board of directors of the Bach Family Foundation board and was active many other civic and social organizations over the years.

“Dwayne’s leadership and service to the Perry community will be greatly missed,” the SORE membership proclaimed over their rolls and coffee. “It is doubtful that he will find a coffee group like SORE in his new community and certain that the SORE group shall not find his equal.”

Hochhalter was also presented with a plaque by his fellow Perry Lions Club members April 10 in gratitude for his 35 years of service as the club’s treasurer. Accepting the plaque from Lions Club President Lou Hoger, Hochhalter said it was the first time he ever attended a Lions meeting without the club’s check book.
