St. Patrick's parishioners enjoy a potluck dinner Sunday.

The usual Sunday schedule for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry is for a mass to be celebrated, in English, at 9 a.m. with a mass in Spanish at 11:30 a.m. A Saturday mass is also held, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The Sunday slate changed this week, as a single 10 a.m. mass was celebrated in the St. Patrick’s School gym, followed by a potluck dinner — in effect feeding first the souls, then the bodies, of the parishioners who gathered for fellowship.

Reverend Chris Reising had stated the dual intention of honoring the patron saint of the parish — whose feast day was Friday — while also serving as a way to bring the English and Spanish speaking segments of the parish together.

By all accounts the event was a success, as most mingled and stayed on for the potluck, which provided more than enough entrees and desserts for all in attendance.
