St. Patrick's parish held a potluck at the Pattee Park shelter house Sunday. Janice Summerson, Stacy Vaughn and Carol Smith stand at the fruit, dessert and drink table, with Dan Spellman passing by.

The shelter house at Pattee Park served as the site for Sunday’s St. Patrick’s parish potluck, and those attending were pleased to find a cooling north breeze that helped keep the humidity at bay and overall conditions tolerable.

The large turnout was treated to a variety of excellent homemade dishes, with the main feature more than 120 pounds of pork roasted by the Knights of Columbus overnight.

So much food was available that many people left with take-away containers, even after the Rev. Chris Reising urged parishioners to take a second pass through the line. One Catholic attending was overheard wondering whether his pronouncement meant a temporary waiving of the admonition against gluttony, one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

The date for the annual Harvest Mass is provisionally set for Sept. 16. The parish will release more details as they become available, but a potluck after the Mass has been discussed.
