Students at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Perry had a special day Wednesday, their annual Field Day.
Games and activities occupy the morning hours, with classes dividing up and watching movies — along with popcorn, of course — in the afternoon.
Traditionally a walk to Wiese Park and a morning of fun on the grass is planned, but with wet conditions grades 4-8 spent a few hours in the gym at the McCreary Community Building, with the K-3 set stayed at the school and had their own fun in their own gym.
The morning portion of Field Day ended with a rousing Ga-Ga Ball tournament, with the older classes each crowning a champion, as did the teachers and adults.
Fr. Chris Reising had his own cheering section as he won the “grown-up Ga-Ga” but the good reverend was quickly eliminated in the championship round, with Gannon Meis claiming honors.
