You’ll be on your way up.
You’ll be seeing great sights.
You’ll join the high fliers
Who soar to high heights.

The words of children’s author Dr. Seuss applied to the high fliers Saturday at the annual St. Patrick Parish Auction, which proved itself a movable feast this year by staging its fundraising at the Perry Municipal Airport.

Thirty-three items were put on the block for the live auction, some donated by private parties and others by the community’s many successful businesses.

Tom Burkgren again donated his time and talents as auctioneer. The Van Wall Group donated the use of the hangar space, which is usually occupied by the corporate jet.

A silent auction began prior to the 6 p.m. dinner, with bidding in the live auction starting at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the auction support parish charitable activities, such as the Mary’s Meals school kitchen in Malawi.

A quilt donated by the parish’s quilters fetched $675 for food and supplies for the Mary’s Meals school kitchen in Lusako, Malawi.
