Sunny skies brought the spring sports teams outside Monday, including the Perry boys soccer squad.

Warmer weather and sunny skies combined to give spring sports teams in the area an opportunity to take their practices outdoors. Golf, soccer and track will all be in full gear soon, and after several days of cold and wet conditions, no doubt both the coaches and their chargers were happy to be outside.

Track will be the first Perry sport to officially begin their 2017 campaign, as both the team will host the 10th annual Davis Family Invitational, a coed meet, at Kaufman Track Thursday. AC/GC, Carroll, Panorama and Saydel will each send a boys and girls squad to the event, with the Des Moines Christian boys and Winterset girls also competing. The coed Bluejay/Jayette Relays are slated for April 13, the only other home event for the Perry thinclads.

The Perry boys soccer team opens their season by hosting a tournament Saturday, with Council Bluffs Lewis Central, Des Moines North and Southeast Polk attending. The Jayette soccer squad begins play April 4 with a visit from Winterset, with Perry hosting Carlisle April 6.

The Perry boys golfers hots Ballard April 4, with the girls team joining Norwalk for a triangular at Ballard. The Jayettes will host Des Moines Christian and Greene County April 6, with the Perry boys joining DMC for a three-team meet at Greene County.
