The PACES before/after school learning program receives no money from the school district and has sustained itself for 15 years on grants and local donations.

From May 1 to May 6 at the Fareway grocery store in Perry, customers can round up their purchase totals to the nearest dollar and give the difference to PACES — Perry’s Academic, Cultural and Enrichment Services Before/After School Learning Center for pre-kindergarten through fifth graders.

“All proceeds go directly to PACES,” said Mary Hillman, longtime PACES director, “so please support PACES by shopping at Fareway. Thanks for all your support!”

The PACES programs keep kids safe, improve their academic achievement, build character, provide fitness and nutrition education and help working-class families.

Hillman said PACES have supported more than 10,000 Perry students since beginning in 2000. The program has offers more than 200 different academic and enrichment activities to students, which improve student grades and attendance.

PACES offers academic and cultural enrichment for some of the Perry school system’s most deserving children.
