CLASS 2A STATE TOURNAMENT -- Perry sophomore Kaleb Olejniczak scores three near-fall points against SH-BCLUW's Ian Showers en route to a 9-3 win in their first round duel at 113 pounds.

DES MOINES — Perry’s Zachary Thompson  (120 pounds) will wrestle this evening in the Class 2A Semifinals at the State Wrestling Meet.

Thompson (52-5) was a 9-1 winner over Sinjin Briggs (52-5, Sr.) of Gilbert. He will face 54-1 Bryce West, a senior from Solon, in the semis.

Fourth-ranked Olejniczak lost by fall to No.3 Aden Reeves (52-1, Sr.) of Albia but earned a spot in tonight’s third round consolation — and thus, a podium spot — by pinning Denver-Tripoli freshman Gabe Lewis  (44-9) in 1 minute, 47 seconds.

He will meet West Marshall junior Hunter Pfantz (35-12) tonight.

Stewart saw an outstanding season end at 49-12 after suffering a 7-2 loss to Brandon Curry (51-5) of Sergeant Bluff-Luton in their 132 pound second round consolation match.
