Tigers use third quarter run, long range shooting to rip Bluejays

Carroll scored 30 of their 41 first-half points from beyond the 3-point arc, then outscored Perry, 22-10, in the third quarter to post a 72-52 Raccoon River Conference win Saturday. The game was rescheduled from Jan. 24.

The win was the second large-margin victory for Carroll over Perry, as the host Tigers had claimed a 62-44 win Dec. 2.

The teams were tied at 20-all after one quarter, with the guests entering the half with a 41-32 lead. Zach Promes buried four treys, Kolby Molinsky and Cooper Ross two each, with two other players knocking down bombs to fuel the Tigers.

Carroll (10-8, 8-6) put the game away with their strong third quarter, in which they scored 15 of the first 20 points to enter the fourth period holding a 63-42 advantage.

Perry (10-9, 7-7) hit only two 3-pointers in the game, both from Kyle Nevitt and both in the first half. The Jays were 10-of-16 at the foul line while the Tigers hit 11-of-19.

Janier Puente had 20 points and Nevitt 16, with Rashon Ivory adding six points. Brandon Kenyon had four points, with Mark Campos, Reece Dunlap and Drew Levan scoring two points apiece.

Molinsky led Carroll with 13 points, with Cooper Ross and Promes each adding 12 while Will Kennebeck tallied nine points and Dayton Ross seven. Justin Mohr and Soren Jensen finished with six points apiece while Colby Vincent tallied five points and Payton Raymond two.

Perry will conclude their regular season by hosting Greene County for a boys-only triple dip Tuesday. The freshmen game will start at 4:30 p.m., with junior varsity and varsity contests to follow.
