Girls wanting to play for the Perry Reds softball teams will have an opportunity to try out Sunday at Graves Diamond in Pattee Park.

The 10-under (10U) team will hold tryouts from 1-2:30 p.m., with the 12U squad having tryouts from 3-4:30 p.m. In case of rain, the tryouts will be moved to the Perry Elementary School gym.

Girls are asked to bring their glove, a helmet and a bat. There is no cost to tryout. Reds players must play in the PGSA regular season.

Softball is a sport on the upswing in Perry. The 12U Reds were Iowa Class C State Champions this summer, with the Jayettes placing sixth in the Class 4A State Softball Tournament.
