Velma Mills, 86, of Perry passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Mercy West Lakes in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation will be Thursday, June 15 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Velma Jean Mills was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Polk City, Iowa, to Herman and Rose (Moore) Foshe.

She graduated from Granger High School.

Velma was united in marriage to Donald E. Mills at the United Brethren Church in Granger Aug. 5, 1950.

Velma worked in the Vocational Rehabilitation Department at the Woodward State Hospital, and after her retirement owned a ceramics shop.

She was a member of the Perry Bible Church.

Velma enjoyed collecting antiques and collectables, loved playing cards and enjoyed music and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Mills; parents, Herman and Rose Foshe; a sister, Linda Bustad; and a son-in-law, Jack Polski.

She is survived by her children, a daughter, Diana Polski of Waukee; and a son, Steven Mills and wife, Heather, of Chatham, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jason, Ryan and Nathan Fitzsimmons, Clark Mills and Dr. Bridget Jones; and three great grandchildren; siblings, Darlene Malone of Earlham, Iowa, and Dennis Foshe and his wife, Irene, of Coon Rapids, Minn.
