GRANGER — Four runs in the bottom of the fifth helped lift Woodward-Granger to a 5-1 win over visiting Creston in non-conference baseball Saturday.
No. 7 W-G improved to 24-0 on the season after adding the four tallies to a single run scored in the first inning, with Creston (9-14) plating an unearned run in the top of the sixth.
Senior Spencer Hanson improved to 7-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.23 with the win. He allowed four hits in 4-2/3 innings on the bump, walking one batter and striking out seven. Reese Jamison allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk in 2-1/3 innings of relief, which included one strikeout.
Hanson was his own best friend at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run. He drove in three runs and scored once.
Matt Buch had a RBI single, with Marcus McConahay, Matt Rhodes, Cole Theisen and Jamison adding base hits. McConahay, Jamison, Rhodes, Hanson and Brady Aunspach each scored once for the hosts.
W-G returns to WCAC play at Madrid Monday before hosting Greene County for a non-conference tilt Tuesday.
