Kris Gerhard and Damien O’Brien were married Saturday at Camp Mitigwa near Boone, and the bride successfully surprised her guests at the reception–held immediately following the ceremony–with a wheelchair first dance with her groom, who is restricted to a wheelchair due to complications of cerebral palsy.
“I want people to know that you can live right up to the moment before you go,” said Gerhard, a patient of HCI Hospice Care Services.
She and O’Brien gave concrete proof of their belief Saturday.
The couple’s incredible love story was published Friday in ThePerryNews.com, and readers can find full details there.
