The Perry Police Department has announced that on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at about 3:45 p.m., Lester Alfredo Hernandez-Chic, 22, was arrested on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B Felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.

Perry Police were dispatched to Wiese Park Saturday after someone reported an unknown male having inappropriate contact with a 9-year-old female while she was in the women’s restroom at the park around 7 p.m.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male about 5’4” with black, spiked hair, was last seen leaving the area in what was described as an older, black, four-door car with a license plate possible containing the letters CZY.

After releasing the description to the public, an anonymous tip was received, claiming Hernandez-Chic was seen driving a vehicle matching the description near Wiese Park at the time the incident was reported.

Perry Police Officers located Hernandez-Chic at 1726 Evelyn at about 3:42 p.m. Hernandez-Chic appeared to fit the description given by the victim and witnesses, and a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle was found parked in the garage area at the residence.

The car was a black 2002 Infinity with Iowa license CZY959 and registered to Hernandez-Chic. He was then arrested on an outstanding Dallas County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving under suspension.

Hernandez-Chic was later interviewed about the sexual assault and made admissions implicating himself. He was then arrested on the assault charge.

Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn said the department wishes to thank the public for their assistance and tips in locating Hernandaez-Chic.

“With their help, investigators were able to quickly apprehend and charge the suspect,” Vaughn said.
