A woman who locked herself inside her vehicle and refused requests by law enforcement to come out was taken into custody Tuesday night after a brief struggle along Boone County Road R18 north of Woodward.

Woodward Police Department Chief Joseph Cox said he was conducting a follow-up investigation about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when the woman drove her vehicle into the ditch of the southbound lane of L Avenue about one-quarter mile north of 310th Street in Boone County.

Cox said the driver of the vehicle “then became non-compliant,” locking the doors and refusing to exit the vehicle. A Boone County Deputy Sheriff and a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff responded to the scene to assist the Woodward Police Chief.

The woman was “forcibly extricated” from her vehicle, according to the Boone County Deputy Sheriff, who said the person proved “combative” and ultimately had to be “hogtied” by law enforcement.

Once in custody, the woman was transported to the Dallas County Hospital for evaluation.  Charges are pending in the case on completion of the investigation, Cox said.
