The Perry United Methodist Women presented their special mission recognition award to three individuals at the morning worship service Sunday, Jan. 22.

Perry First United Methodist Women (UMW) President Cathy Clark and Secretary and UMW member Marilyn Schirman presented the awards. The criteria for the award include participation and service in the local church.

UMW members Pam Odin, Pat Brobst and Opal Ruth received the award for their faithful participation in many activities and committees within the church.

Worship Committee member David Pratt recognized another member who has dedicated much time to the church and her fellow members: Jan Lowe.

“Over the past four to five years,” Pratt said, “Jan has made over 2,000 telephone calls to members of the congregation for sponsorship of the church’s radio spot on Sunday mornings, sponsorship in the Chat Sheet and for liturgists to read on Sunday mornings. Jan also participates in many other church activities.”

Officers of various church committees were also installed before the congregation during the worship service. Pastor Paul Burrow led the installation ceremony. There are 10 committees within the local United Methodist Church.
