Woodward-Granger hosts Hawk Coed Relays Tuesday

WOODWARD — The host Hawk boys were second, and the Hawk girls third, in their coed relays Tuesday at Uthe Track.

Greene County won the boys side with 169 points, with W-G second at 143. Iowa Christian Academy (89), West Central Valley (73), Glidden-Ralston (70) and Paton-Churdan (26) completed the field.

The Rams also won the girls meet, posting a winning total of 188 points to runner-up G-R’s 149 points. W-G had 140 points and ICA 54.

Chandler Cavanaugh and Brendan Bird were 1-3 in the 100 dash, in 11.96 and 12.23 seconds, respectively, with Alex Bice sixth in the 800 in 2:28.95. Kaya Bowlsby and Jack Grell were 2-5 in the 1600 in 5 minutes, 17.92 seconds and 5:22.09, with Bice fifth (11:51.21) and Dylan Steele sixth (12:40.93) in the 3200.

Payton Tague and Mick Moser were 2-4 in the 110 high hurdles, in 17.26 and 20.9 respectively, with Tague second (1:04.22) and Pacey Moats fourth (1:09.26) in the 400 low hurdles.

Marcus McConahay, Bryce Achenbach, Austin Scharlau and Cavanaugh won the 4×400 (3:48.76), with Bird, McConahay, Cavanaugh and Josh Saak winning the sprint medley (1:40.12) while Achenback, Grell, Bowlsby and Saak claimed the 4×800 (9:21.3).

McConahay, Saak, Achenbach and Cavanaugh obliterated the field to win the 4×200 in 1:39.26, crossing 6.42 seconds ahead of second-place Greene County.

Bird, Tague, Scharlau and McConahay were second in the 4×100 (1:39.26), with Tague, Moats, Moser and Tate Lettow second in the shuttle hurdle (1:11.07) while Saak, Scharlau, Moats and Gage Lisle placed third in the distance medley (4:12.73).

Bird was first, and Brody Easter second, in the discus with spins of 124 feet, 10-1/2 inches and of 116’11. Alex Kirton was fourth (37’4-1/2) and Logan Canova sixth (36’0-3/4) in the shot put while Achenbach placed fourth in the long jump at 18’3.

Emma Buckman and Kaycee Major were 2-6 in the girls discus at 89’5 and 63’11, with Buckman fourth (29’6-3/4) and Kaitlyn Scharlau fifth (28’0-1/4) in the shot put whiel Natalie Helbling was fifth in the high jump at 4’6.

Chloe and Savannah David were 1-2, in 1:18.63 and 1:19, in the 400 low hurdles, with Savannah David fifth and Maddi Danti sixth in the 100 hurdles in 20.24 and 20.28.

Emma Drake (2:42.28) and Riley Jamison (2:53.88) placed 1-3 in the 800, with Kaitlyn Peters third (5:46.63) in the 1500 while Regan Kaufman (14:19.18) was second in the 3000.

Josie Noland and Kaufman were 2-5, in 1:09.78 and 1:19.45, in the 800, with Anna Tague (29.58) and Danti (32.21) 3-6 in the 200 and Quinn Kaufman (15.84) and Danti (16.01) in the 100.

Drake, Tague, Noland and Peters won the 4×400 (4:45.24) and Peters, Tague, Drake and Helbling the 4×800 (10:56.88) while Noland, Tague, Drake and Peters claimed the distance medley (4:42).

The 4×100 unit of both Kaufman and both David sisters was fourth in 1:02.24, with the David sisters, Danti and Helbling third in the 4×200 in 2:07.56. Quinn Kaufman, Noland, Mae Anderson and Alyssa Bice were third in the sprint medley in 2:10.93, with Helbling, Danti and the David sisters finishing third in the shuttle hurdle in 1:25.58.

W-G will compete at Boone today, and then battle at the WCC meet in Madrid Tuesday.
