The Xenia Rural Water District has placed 179 customers under a boil order in the area north of Perry.

The Xenia Rural Water District is advising its customers living north of Perry and the surrounding Berkley area to boil water before drinking it following a water main break on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

A complete list of the 179 affected customers can be found by clicking here. A detailed map of the affected area can be found below.

Xenia said it has repaired the main and restored service, but it is recommended not to drink the water without boiling it first.

Bring the water to a boil, and let it boil for one minute. Let the water cool before using.

Xenia customers may also use bottled water.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and preparing food until further notice.

Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes without boiling it first.

After water service is restored to the area, the Xenia Rural Water District will test the water to ensure it is safe for consumption. Notice will be given to the affected members when the boil advisory has been lifted.
