Perry Public Library Director Mary Murphy joined Mike Reeser of Spencer-based Info Dog Security Saturday morning for the library’s annual free paper-shredding service.
The two-hour event is a regular feature of the October calendar, Murphy said, and is sponsored by the library, Info Dog and the Raccoon Valley Bank.
“This is one of the library’s many free public services,” Murphy said. She said a steady number of local recyclers started arriving with the event’s 10 a.m. start time.
Among the visitors was Perry Hy-Vee Store Director Matt May, who stopped by with his young sons, Lincoln, 5, and Wilson, 2, to inspect the shredding process.
Reeser, a retiree from south Indianola, parks the shredding truck between the library’s south entrance and the Des Moines Area Community College Perry VanKirk Career Academy building.
Reeser said he takes the shredding truck to spots around Des Moines and Creston five days each month.
