With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Abigail “Gail” Salazar of Perry, who left us on June 2, 2025, just one day after her 68th birthday.
Gail was a woman of remarkable spirit—funny, wise, full of life and endlessly compassionate. She gave generously of her time, her laughter and her love. Her presence was a gift to everyone who knew her, and her kindness touched countless lives.
Born on June 1, 1957, Gail built a life rooted in love, strength and resilience. Throughout her varied career, she served as a translator, CNA, switchboard operator and activities director—roles that perfectly reflected her nurturing soul and her desire to connect with and care for others.
Gail had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life: playing bingo, doing word searches, whistling with the birds and listening to music that moved her soul. Her sense of humor, warm smile and empathetic heart made her the kind of person everyone was drawn to and deeply cherished.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ricardo; her beloved daughters, Bernadette (Johnny) Goodwin and Sarah (Daniel) Salazar; her treasured grandchildren, Alejandra Ruiz, Gustavo Ruiz Jr., Isaiah Ruiz, Abagail Cubillo, Xavier Ruiz, Frank Ruiz, Sebastian Lynch and Archer Salazar; her loving brother, Ventura Limon; sisters Maryellen Galvan, Rosemary White and Patricia Martinez; along with many extended family members and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Gail’s life was a testament to love, strength and unwavering generosity. Her memory will live on in every kind gesture, every moment of laughter and every heart she touched.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Gail’s life will be held on Monday, June 9 from 6-7 p.m. at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home-Perry Chapel, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place the following morning, Tuesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, followed by burial at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry Iowa.
