An Adel man was arrested Friday night after a domestic dispute in which he allegedly strangled his wife and struck a child in the face.

Adam Jeffery Simons, 34, of 27874 Sportsmans Club Road, Adel, was charged with domestic assault-impeding blood/airflow-strangulation with injury and child endangerment-serious injury.

The incident began about 7 p.m. Friday in the 27800 block of Sportsmans Club Road, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriff’s responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The deputies made contact with the victim, who told the deputies that an argument occurred during which Simons allegedly “put his hands around her” neck and “squeezed her neck until she could not breath,” according to court records.

The victim told deputies that she felt “light-headed when he was strangling her,” and afterward “her neck hurt,” and she “had difficulty swallowing,” according to court records.

The deputies observed “red marks on the victim’s neck,” according to court records.

During the argument, a “child was struck in the face, resulting in a black eye on the left side of her face,” according to court records.

Simons was held in the Dallas County Jail without bond in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.
