Adel man arrested after violating pretrial release

Jeffery Michael Heater, 37, of Adel was arrested Wednesday on original charges of three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree theft, possession of burglary tools and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.

An Adel man was arrested on a Dallas County warrant Wednesday after allegedly violating the terms of his pretrial release in connection with a series of burglaries and thefts occurring in May and June.

Jeffery Michael Heater, 37, of 1631 Main St., Adel, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree theft, possession of burglary tools and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

According to court records, Heater was arrested May 31 in connection with thefts from a farm near Earlham, and he was arrested June 15 in connection with thefts from a farm south of Perry. The cases are pending in Dallas County District Court.

Heater was granted pretrial release Oct. 2 but was “asked to leave Breakaway Sober Living” Jan. 17 after he allegedly “tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine.”

A warrant for Heater’s arrest was ordered Jan. 21 and served Jan. 27. Heater was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to his release on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a hearing Feb. 5 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
