Adel man arrested for allegedly strangling woman Saturday

An Adel man was arrested Saturday morning after he allegedly strangled a female and refused to let her leave his residence in Adel.

Mitchell Ryan Lemon, 22, of 1404 Greene St., #16, Adel, was charged with domestic abuse assault blocking air/blood flow causing injury, false imprisonment and first-offense public intoxication.

The incident began shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday when an Adel Police Department officer responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 1400 block of Greene Street. at his residence in Adel.

The responding officer found Lemon “lying on the sidewalk in an unstable emotional state,” with “bloody knuckles and a swollen cheek.”

According to the female victim, Lemon “became angry and started destroying a speaker.”  The victim said “she tried to leave but was put in a choke hold” by Lemon, who then struck her “in the head while he was destroying the speaker.”

Lemon consented to a preliminary breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol content of .212.

Lemon is held in the Dallas County Jail in advance of an initial appearance Sunday in Dallas County District Court.

Lemon pleaded guilty to first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in December 2019 in Dallas County District Court. In the July 2019 incident in Dexter, the victim declined to have sex with Lemon, and he responded by “head-butting the victim three times in the forehead and pinching her inner left arm.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
