Todd Alan Kirgis, 52, of Adel was arrested Sunday on a charge of interference with official acts.

An Adel man was arrested early Sunday after refusing to take direction from law enforcement officers.

Todd Alan Kirgis, 52, of 408 S. 10th St., #9, Adel, was charged with interference with official acts.

The incident began about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2700 block of Summer Meadows Drive, where officers of the Perry Police Department and a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a report of a fight inside a residence.

Officers made contact with Kirgis, “who had been in a physical alteration with his brother,” according to court records.

Kirgis “was highly agitated,” according to court records, and “tensed his body and tried standing up and approaching officers, refusing several commands from officers and the deputy.”

Kirgis was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to his release on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 10 in Dallas County District Court.

Kirgis was convicted of interference with official acts in 2001 in Hardin County District Court.
