An Adel man sought to avoid warrant service Wednesday evening by fleeing on foot from officers of the Adel Police Department, but they caught him after a brief pursuit.
Eric Nathan Ranker, 41, of 2121 Greene St., Adel, was charged with violation of a no-contact order, interference with official acts-bodily injury and littering.
The no-contact order was issued in connection with Ranker’s arrest May 21 on a charge of second-offense domestic abuse assault.
The Wednesday incident began about 5:15 p.m., when Ranker was seen in the vicinity of the protected party’s residence. A chase ensued, and Ranker was seen running through the parking lot of the Faith Lutheran Church in Adel.
Ranker was taken into custody about 5:30 p.m. without incident.
Ranker is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $300 cash-only bond and a $600 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance Thursday in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
I do not know about you, but that littering charge has upset me the most! Violation of a no-contact order and interference with official acts/bodily injury is bad enough, but adding that littering charge and we now know that guy is beyond hope! Seriously, mister, stay away from her/him, and stop compounding the trouble you are in. We are reading about way too many people assaulting those who have protection orders against them lately. What is the count for domestic violence this week on these pages? Two or is it three people this week in jail for hitting their “loved” ones? Heck, there is a guy with a violent past in the same jail you are in tonight that just caught attempted murder charges. Do you want to throw your life away as he has done? Besides, no one is going to be all that upset if the person who needs protection from you shoots you the next time you show up and scare him or her. I know I won’t mourn you no matter how cold-hearted that would be for one human to feel about another.
