Courtney Brianna Jackson, 21, of Adel was arrested Thursday on charges of fifth-degree theft and operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent.

An Adel woman was arrested Thursday on an Adel Police Department warrant after driving her father’s vehicle without permission and taking other items from the family home.

Courtney Brianna Jackson, 21, of 1734 S. 11th St., Adel, was charged fifth-degree theft and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

According to court records, Jackson allegedly took her father’s 2001 GMC Sierra pickup truck about 4:45 p.m. Monday after “she was strictly told she cannot drive it.”

The father reported the incident and told officers that “he unhooked the battery cables and took the fuses out” of the vehicle in order “to deter” Jackson’s taking the vehicle, but he later saw Jackson “take the fuses and vehicle keys from his house.”

A review of “video footage of the driveway of” the home revealed Jackson “messing with” the vehicle “under the hood and then getting in the vehicle and driving off,” according to court records.

Two bottles of sedatives, $60 cash and a debit card were also reported missing from the home.

An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday in Dallas County District Court and served Thursday.

Jackson is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $4,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for an initial appearance Friday in Dallas County District Court.
