Sun Wong, with shears, owner of the Mandarin Cafe, was joined by his family and many local supporters Saturday morning in downtown Perry for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the restaurant's new location at 1117 Second St. The Mandarin Cafe has been a landmark in Perry's downtown business community for 25 years.

Sun and Kean Wong hosted a ribbon-cutting luncheon at the Mandarin Cafe, a fixture on the Perry dining landscape for 25 years, Saturday morning with their family and a large group of local supporters who have enjoyed the Wongs’ fare for many years.

Their new location, at 1117 Second St., in downtown Perry, has been open for business about two months, according to Hawn Wong, 20, Sun and Kean’s eldest son.

“Business has been great,” said Hawn Wong. “We have a lot more room here, and customers seem to like it.”

The Mandarin Cafe offers a wide selection of Chinese food for carry out, delivery and dining in, including Kung Bao Chicken, Pad Tai Shrimp and Seafood Pho. Their hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The phone number is 515-465-2080.
