Sunday's soup supper and bake sale fundraiser at the Perry Alano Club will help support improvements to the buildings. The event starts at 11 a.m.

The Perry Alano Club will host a soup supper and bake sale fundraiser Sunday, Jan. 12  from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its buildings at 1211 Lucinda St. and 1213 Lucinda St. in downtown Perry.

Visitors will choose one or all of the soups, including cheesy potato, ham and bean, chicken noodle and others, along with a variety of desserts. The soup supper and bake sale are open to the public.

The event is a free-will donation, and all proceeds support ongoing renovation projects at the Alano Club. Recent improvements include new doors and locks, new siding and exterior paint, all made possible through a grant from the Bock Family Foundation, a large private donation from a supporter and annual membership donations.

Future improvements include fire prevention signage, alarms and lighting as well as eve troughs and additional exterior painting of the buildings.

The primary purpose of the Perry Alano Club is to host 12-Step recovery meetings. The club’s mission is to hold sober events for members of the Perry Alano Club and others associated with 12-step programs and to provide a safe place for people in 12-Step recovery to come and socialize.
