All-district honors bestowed on seven Perry gridders

Seniors Jacob Nelson, Cori Alamina, Wilber Ramirez and Cole Snyder have all been named to the 3A D2 All-District teams. They were joined by fellow Bluejays Kato Dougan, Miguel Sierra and Emmanuel Soto.

The All-District teams for Class 3A District 2 were recently released, with three Perry players named to the First Team while four others were placed on the Honorable Mention list.

Senior defensive end Cole Snyder and senior defensive back earned First Team recognition, as did sophomore defensive end Emmanuel Soto.

Snyder had 50 total tackles, including a quarterback sack and seven tackles for a loss of yardage. He also recovered two fumbles.

Ramirez fell on two fumbles and returned an interception 57 yards while leading the team in tackles with 51.5 while Soto had 41 stops in his first varsity season.

Senior linebacker Cori Alamina (37 tackles), senior defensive back Jacob Nelson (29.5 tackles, two fumble recoveries for 70 yards and one interception) and senior wide receiver Kato Dougan (19 catches for 272 yards and one touchdown) were all placed on the honorable mention list. They were joined by junior defensive tackle Miguel Sierra, who had nine tackles but was a strong presence in the interior.

Perry was 0-9 overall and 0-7 in D2 action for the second consecutive year. The IHSAA will issue new two-year district assignments in late January.
