All-RRC honors for trio of Bluejay cagers

Perry seniors Janier Puente and Kyle Nevitt and junior Rashon Ivory were recently selected for All-Raccoon River Conference boys basketball honors. The Bluejays finished 12-10 overall while posting a 7-7 record in RRC action.

Puente was named to the First Team and Nevitt to the Second Team, with Honorable Mention recognition given to Ivory.

Puente averaged 16.3 points per game. He was 93-of-178 (52.2) from the floor, second-best among those taking at least 100 shots. The 6-5 post was far and away the most prolific rebounder in the league, leading in total caroms (134) and boards per game (9.6). While holding a two-rebound edge for the top spot in defensive boards (85), his 49 offensive snatches were 17-better than his closest competition.

Nevitt buried 32.1 percent of his attempted 3-point shots (26-of-81) while averaging 13.4 points per outing. He finished with 74 total rebounds and shot 25-of-39 (64.1 percent) from the foul line.

Ivory was second in the RRC in total assists (59) while clearing 35 rebounds and making 23 steals. He averaged 10.6 ppg and finished 48-of-70 (68.6) at the free throw line.
