Angus junk yard blaze brings four area fire departments

Four local fire departments fought a junk yard fire Wednesday evening near the Angus curve on Iowa Highway 144 south of Rippey.

It is unknown at this hour whether anyone was injured in the blaze.

The fire was reported about 5:15 p.m. at Dave Garreans Auto Salvage at 33 327th Lane in Angus. Thick, black, acrid smoke was visible billowing up from the auto salvage yard.

An officer of the Perry Police Department was the first to respond, followed by Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The cause of the fire in under investigation at this time.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Rippey Volunteer Fire Department, Grand Junction Volunteer Fire Department and Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department responded and fought the blaze in the tri-county area. The Boone County EMS also responded.
