Nearly 120 golfers participated Sunday in the yearly Trent Miner Parent/Child Tournament at a sun-splashed Perry Golf and Country Club.
The event is held in honor of the popular young man whose live was cut short by cancer in 2005. In his memory tens of thousands of dollars have been raised over the years to support the scholarship foundation established in his name, with several charities — notably Make-A-Wish and caringbridge — receiving generous donations.
The fun began at 9 a.m. with the under-14 set going a parent/guardian for nine holes of alternate shot golf. At 1 p.m. the older set teed off, using a best ball format while playing nine holes. The morning group was treated to a lunch, with the afternoon pairings enjoying a meal when all were finished, with a silent auction also held.
