PANORA — The Panorama girls were 8-0 victors over visiting Greene County Thursday, their second win by the same score and third blanking of an opponent in as many games.

The hosts held a 4-0 lead at the half, with Audrey Cmelik, Paige Cmelik, Jaelyn Waddle and Nicole Rolfes each scoring before the break.

The onslaught continued after the intermission, with Ella Waddle, Anna Holloway, and both Audrey and Paige Cmelik finding the nylon in the second 40 minutes of play.

Unofficial assist totals indicated Audrey and Paige Cmelik had two apiece, with Jaelyn Waddle and MaKenna Woodvine also adding assists.

Panorama head coach Curt Thornberry praised Greene County sophomore goalie Bailey Cunningham for her play between the pipes. Noting his team had “a large number of shots on goal” he noted Cunningham’s effort, saying “she was all over the place and I applaud her. Their whole team played hard, but she (Cunningham) stood out.”

Thornberry also had plenty of praise for his own keeper, junior Ashley Clark, who has yet to be beaten this season. He also noted the strong play of wing defenders Erica Block and Jensen Wilke and the inside defensive presence of Bryn Steffen and Maisie Knapp, all of whom “are combining to turn back just about every attack and are really controlling the game for us.”

The play of both Waddle sisters in the middle of the field could also not be overlooked, he said.

“We are really playing well as a unit right now, but we will be tested Saturday, and I think that will be a good thing,” he said. “I like our confidence right now, but need to see how we react when we are on the wrong foot for once.”

Panorama will play Saturday in the Nevada Tournament. They will face Southeast Polk at 10:30 a.m. before squaring off with Ballard at 1:30 p.m.
