A passenger van caught fire early Sunday at the Northgate Estates in Perry, and one person is in custody on a charge of second-degree arson.

Sinzobakwira Anne, 37, 2801 First Ave., #36, Perry, was taken into custody at the scene of the fire at her home.

There were no injuries in the 1:45 a.m. blaze.

Officers of the Perry Police Department responded to the reported fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle and attempted to control it by means of fire extinguishers, but the fire was too far advanced.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the blaze, which did not fully engulf the van but appeared largely to destroy it. The mobile homes nearby were not damaged.

Anne is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $10,000 bond.
