Dallas County’s Nu Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma held their annual silent auction in December, with proceeds supporting two $500 scholarships in memory of Opal Strassburg, longtime Perry educator and Nu Alpha Gamma member.
“This is a wonderful way to honor Opal,” said Sue Leslie of Perry, spokesperson for the chapter. “It’s also a great way to support women in the field of education, and anyone who’s home for the holiday break should take the time to apply.”
Applicants for the scholarships must be college juniors or seniors in the fall of 2016 and be seriously planning on entering the teaching field. Each applicant must have graduated from a Dallas County high school or be a resident of Dallas County and be majoring in either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts program.
All qualified students from Dallas County are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is April 1, 2016. For more information or to apply, contact JoAnn Harmelink at 515-465-2391 or don.joann.harmelink@gmail.com.
