Audubon man arrested for September 11 attack on Perry man

An Audubon man was arrested Monday and charged with assaulting a Perry man.

Jay Robert Edwin Pedrin, 30, of Audubon was arrested by the Audubon Police Department on a charge of willfil injury-causing serious injury, a Class D felony, in connection with an incident that took place Tuesday, Sept. 11 at a residence in the 200 block of E. Division Street in Audubon.

Matt Starmer, Audubon Chief of Police, said the investigation of the incident is ongoing, and he could not release additional information at this time.

“We’re still waiting on some witness statements, and I wouldn’t want to release anything that might influence those,” Starmer said.

The victim of the attack was treated at the Audubon County Hospital before being transferred to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Pedrin is being held at the Audubon County Jail on a $10,000 bond. His criminal record shows prior convictions for assault in 2009 and 2013, according to court documents.

Pedrin had an initial appearance Tuesday before Audubon Magistrate Gary R. Englin. Guthrie Center attorney Christine Lee Sand is Pedrin’s court-appointed defense attorney.
