Gary Weishaar welcomed all to the event, and, following an opening prayer and hymn, senior Isabel Saemisch offered a reading from scripture, Acts 17:22-31.

Doc McCaulley provided a spiritual musical interlude, with longtime Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsors Mike and Shari Garber speaking briefly and introducing the senior present.

Each senior spoke of their individual future plans, with a hymn sung before senior Breanna Penenger sang a special musical selection.

Senior Drew Levan then introduced former Perry resident Joseph Dantzler, who served as keynote presenter.

Dantzler spoke of the definition of ‘joy’ and how most people have only a simple understanding of the emotion. He encouraged the seniors not to be become so absorbed in themselves that they shut God from their lives.

Dantzler also engaged the entire audience in his presentation, with a brief written task helping him and emphasis to his message.

All gathered sang a final hymn, with Pastor Charles Compton offering a closing prayer, after which refreshments were served in the commons area.

The Perry High School Class of 2018 will graduate Sunday at 2 p.m. in the varsity gym.
