A Bagley woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday in connection with the drowning last summer of her 11-month-old child.
In a plea bargain struck with the Guthrie County Attorney’s office, Seaira Marie Briceno, 25, pleaded guilty to charges of child endangerment and child endangerment resulting in serious injury. She was originally charged with child endangerment resulting in death and child endangerment.
Briceno was sentenced to two consecutive 10-year prison terms by Guthrie County District Court Judge Terry Rickers.
According to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office, Briceno was bathing her two children, ages 2 and 11 months, Aug. 10, 2018, in her Bagley home at 300 First Ave. when the younger child drowned.
Briceno was arrested in April 2018 in Marshall County on charges of first-offense OWI, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of child endangerment.

Child endangerment resulting in serious injury – 10 years
Involuntary manslaughter – 5 years
Marshall Co charges (first-offense OWI, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of child endangerment) – 5 years
